Hi, ,
Sometimes just sitting and breathing quietly seems unattainable to the overstressed nervous system. If this describes you, you might actually allow your body to move - the body loves to move! Next time you’re feeling nervous, tense or stressed, try shaking out one hand gently. Follow up with the other hand and arm and then shake out one leg, then the other. This is one of my favorite
therapies.
Shaking activates the parasympathetic nervous system and signals the brain to calm, relax and let go. Shaking also activates the lymphatic system of our body, which helps our body get rid of toxins.
There is no wrong way to shake. To try shaking meditation, stand with your feet hip-width apart and soften your knees and drop your shoulders. Begin shaking and feeling the bounce through your knees and let the vibration spread to your arms and shoulders. Try to shake your entire body with little trembles and full body shakes. You can even play some music if you want.
Join us to explore some movement therapies this week! You'll be grateful to have these tools on hand throughout the holidays, when unwinding sometimes seems elusive. Have a few tricks up your sleeves!
