In honor of the holiday, we'll be doing a special Thanksgiving practice. Since we all could use more rest and healing, the second part of the hour will be devoted to a full Yoga Nidra practice.
Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation.”… the body finds its natural state of equilibrium and we fall into an innate state of deep, blissful rest.
We start to experience the ‘deeper’ features of yogic teachings, such as feeling our wholeness and becoming aware of our true, unified nature – expansive, inclusive, and deeply restful.
Yoga Nidra takes us effortlessly into a state of harmonious, restful being. From here, we can be healed, restored and awakened to our deepest, all-knowing, all-welcoming self. It’s a sublime practice, gaining popularity the world over, and ongoing research continues to prove its effectiveness in healing many issues.
So this week, plan on getting really comfortable - you might set up your space ahead of time with pillows and blankets. If you want to spend the whole hour lying down, indulge yourself!
