The power of meditation is that it teaches us to live in the present moment. We have no training in this skill at all. We have learned, consciously or unconsciously, to always be on the lookout. This is what our “monkey mind” does in its mission to keep us safe.
The magic of this moment is that, most often, there is absolutely no problem in the present moment. Most of the pain, most of the danger, most of the things which upset us, happened in the past or we anticipate them happening in the future. When we learn to reside in this moment, we are amazed to discover, everything is already ok.
Let’s practice together. Yes, it’s hard to quiet the mind. Yes, asking our busy mind to stay in this moment seems impossible. Together, we will practice. Meditation is always a practice. There is no end goal. It is simply a practice in which we remember, again and again, the tools we have to come back in to this moment, into joy.
