There will be no Wednesday 6 pm Meditation this week, as I am taking a mini-vacation. We have tickets to see the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in Washington on Wednesday evening and are spending a few days in Georgetown afterwards.
Since we are all in need of soothing practices right now (!!!!,)
I invite anyone who is inclined: please join our Gentle Yoga practice either Tuesday at 10:30 am or Tuesday at 5:30 pm, as my guest - no charge. Anyone can join - I
can even set up chairs at the back of the room for those who have a hard time getting on to the floor. Or you might consider joining our Zoom Meditation Group on Tuesday at 12 pm.
This is a very powerful time to practice Loving Kindness Meditation. For yourself, for us all, for our country.
The traditional words we often use are:
"May I be filled with Loving Kindness.
May I be
well.
May I feel peaceful and at ease.
May I be happy."
I also advocate
writing your own words, or using the words the Walk for Peace Monks offered which are listed below. Be sure to send those wishes to yourself, as well as to all beings. I have been using these words myself as often as I remember, just driving around town or anytime I find myself mired in fear, grief or anger, which is very often these days.
Additionally, I sincerely advocate sending those words to someone you may be furious with, as counter-intuitive as that is. As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. famously said:
"Hate cannot conquer hate. Only Love can do that."
