Hi ,
"Meditation practice isn't about trying to
throw ourselves away and become something better.
It's about befriending who we are already.”
—Pema Chodron
How are you being with yourself this week? I know I often find myself attempting to force myself into situations that don't feel completely comfortable to me. While it is of course a great idea to stretch our comfort zones, at the same time, I also feel we need to be gentle with ourselves.
On a recent talk, I heard Martha Back advise us to "Take turtle steps right now." As the world is moving faster and faster, I have noticed how often I am inclined to push myself more and more. It's really important at this time to honor your collective needs to rest more and perhaps do a little less.
At this time, perhaps baby steps are too much - can you take turtle steps? Taking turtle steps, you'll still get where you want to go, moving at a sure and steady pace, instead of burning yourself out and ultimately slowing your progress down.
This week in our Meditation Groups, we will practice tools to help us move a little more slowly and find more rest. I've had two requests for specific meditations to help us do just that.
No experience necessary – come as you are!
