As I am writing you this email, there is the sound of hammering all around me. The 60 year old siding on my house is being replaced. This seems to be such a metaphor to what we are all going through currently. There is so much upheaval, strife and anxiety in the world as worn out beliefs and ideas are seemingly being ripped out.
How can we maintain or create some much needed equanimity as the noise around us increases?
One of my favorite practices currently is to bring my awareness into my belly. Often it is helpful to allow my hands to rest on this area. I find a point a few inches below the navel and then go inward a few inches, calling this space “Home.” I pause and feel my breath in this area.
While being aware of my natural inhale, I use the phrase, “I Am.” As I allow my natural exhale, “Home Now.”
I Am Home Now. This is a gentle reminder to my nervous system that wherever I am, in whatever situation I find myself in, I am Home.
Join us this week as we practice coming home to our authentic self. This practice itself can help restore balance to our nervous system.
We can all go slower to bring the vibration of the collective into serenity.” ~ Dr. Jennifer Freed
